Main causes are the greenhouse effect gasses in the atmosphere such as water vapour, CO2, nitrous oxide, methane and chlorofluorocarbon let sunlight into the earth atmosphere but keep the heat from escaping like glass wall of the greenhouse. This will increase the earth temperature at an alarming rate. Climate change has consequences for our oceans, weather, food sources and health.
South Africa is facing one of the worst droughts to hit the region in 30 years. Many small farmers are expected to go out of business as food production and prices increase, especially in the Free State province.
The intensity, frequency and duration of North Atlantic hurricanes, as well as the frequency of the strongest (Category 4 and 5) hurricanes, have all increased since the early 1980s. The relative contributions of human and natural causes to these increases are still uncertain. Hurricane-associated storm intensity and rainfall rates are projected to increase as the climate continues to warm.
With record wildfires and hurricanes ravaging the United States, the effects of extreme weather events made worse by climate change are becoming more visible, and costly, to more and more Americans.
