Youtuber Mr.Beast launched the #TeamTrees campaign in October 2019 after his fan bombarded him with memes suggesting he should celebrate reaching 20 million subscribers on youtube by planting 20 million trees.
At 1$ a tree, the goal of this campaign is to raise until $20 million by 1st January 2020. However, it took the campaign less time than it targeted to complete its goal. The organizers behind #teamtrees announced the goal had already been achieved at the end of 2019, raising money to plant 20 million trees in less than two months.
The campaign gathered the support of more than 600 influencers, such as Elon Musk the CEO of Tesla, and Susan Wojcicki the CEO of Youtube. Elon Musk had donated $1 million for this good cause campaign.
